“United under God’s mercy, there is no path that cannot be created through hard work and belief.”
Alex “The Cardman” Perricone
What can you accomplish in a single day? A week? How about in one month or a year? Many are pressured by time and the mere idea of “what should have happened by now”. But time itself is not against us. It is the gathering up of our movements through time that hold the power to form the foundations of our dreams. The real question we must answer is: “How can I fully place myself into every moment of time that life brings?”

On March 21st, 2011 I began building a card city for my very first public cardstacking display, courtesy of the Blue Colt Bookstore located at the College Center of Middlesex County College. At that time, I had never done anything like it before and it was beyond everything I had made for my YouTube videos. In 7 days, I spent 32 hours and used over 25,000 cards to build that card city, a feat that inspired many with my message:
“If you work hard enough, anything is possible.”
Designed and constructed all the while I was taking classes; I somehow found the time and the love to do it. I wasn’t worried about how I would finish it. I wasn’t scared about what people might think about me. I wasn’t even sad when it came time to knock it all down on April 11th at 11:00 in the morning…or when some unruly students banged on the display window when I wasn’t there, knocking over cards from the dome among other buildings that stood closest to the window. I had a passion and that is what I set my heart on.

Passion makes all worry melt away and commands time itself to be an ally, carrying the wind beneath our wings so we can truly fly. When the ways of the world try to push us down, we have to remember the feelings we have for all that we love. If I hadn’t listened to the voice of my passions, I wouldn’t be writing this blog…or even be “The Cardman”. That little card city is what set me a path beyond the shadows of fear and doubt. And so it is today: that by following my passions, I begin the next chapter of my card life. There comes a time when every thought meets action and every feeling meets expression. When every word spoken finds listening ears and every card meets the eyes of a joyful soul. This is the life I am building in the cards. And I hope to see you, the reader, wherever the cards take me next.
